Riding Lessons

From First Ride to Show Ring.

An English riding programme that welcomes young and adult beginners at every skill level, with progress built around each rider.

A Rider’s Own Start

Four levels. One programme built around you.

Whether your child is getting in the saddle for the very first time or preparing for competition, our trainers build around each rider’s experience, goals and confidence level.

Beginner

01

Beginner

First time in the saddle. Ground work, mounting, posture and the confidence to ride and lead independently.

Intermediate

02

Intermediate

Building a secure seat, steering, transitions, posting trot, canter and first small fences.

Advanced

03

Advanced

Refining position and feel. Flatwork, gymnastics, courses and the beginnings of independent riding.

Competitive

04

Competitive

Show preparation. Course work, ring craft, warm-up routines and travelling to compete.

Our Goal

Riding is only half of what a rider learns here.

Confidence

Progress at a pace that builds trust, never nerves.

Balance

An independent seat that carries into every ride.

Technique

Correct position, aids and timing from the first lesson.

Horsemanship

Grooming, tacking, handling and reading a horse.

Partnership

A relationship with the horse, not just a ride.

Getting Started

Three steps to your first lesson.

01

Tell us about the rider

Age, experience and what you are hoping to get out of riding. A short form or phone call is enough.

02

Come in for an assessment

A first lesson lets our trainers see where the rider is and match the right horse.

03

Build the programme

From there we set a lesson schedule and a plan — from steady weekly progress to a full competition run.

Before Your First Lesson

What riders need to bring.

Safety Equipment

Safety equipment is not optional at MEC. If you do not own what is needed, ask us — we will help you choose before your first lesson.

  • Helmet — ASTM/SEI-approved riding helmet, correctly fitted
  • Footwear — paddock boots or tall riding boots with a heel
  • Legwear — long riding breeches or fitted pants; no shorts
